No, Sydney Sweeney Didn’t Fire Back at the Trolls in the Best Way
I’m not sure if you heard the big news, but apparently, the Twitter (*cough* X) and Instagram trolls came for Sydney Sweeney with a body-shaming narrative. And after a slew of negative comments, she fired back “in the best way possible” according to silly news outlets like Teen Vogue.
No. Absolutely not.
No offense to Sydney Sweeney who I am sure is a nice person, but responding to body shamers with photos/video that infer a “see, I look good, I’m in shape” response is not the “best way” to respond.
Is it a fine response? Sure. Insults sting, and it’s natural to lash back out at them. Personally, I’d recommend simply ignoring them rather than giving them the time of day, but lashing out is within a person’s prerogative.
But is either of those choices the “best possible way”?
No.
The best response is a message that bodies of different sizes and shapes are all beautiful in their own way and perfectly fine.
Look, Sydney Sweeney is in the business of being beautiful. We get it. Posting a video of working out to prepare for a movie role is good PR. She has every right to act in her own self-interest. She doesn’t owe society anything.
